Rainbow trout caught with a Fastnet Trout Gye landing net at Troutmaster Fisheries in Ayrshire Scotland

Use the Fastnet ANGLERS code© because 90% of all fish lost at the landing stage can be caught with the right net.

ALWAYS keep your landing net as close to you as you possibly can and NEVER stretch over water.

Don’t alert the fish - GUIDE your net into the water before LEADING in the fish.

Don’t let the fish touch the net rim – if you do it will struggle to ESCAPE.

Lie the fish on the bottom of the net bag and RAISE the landing net quickly to avoid STRESSING and damaging the fish.

Grasp the rim of your landing net with both hands and pull towards you with the fish still in the water.

Remove the hook and tilt the net to return the fish to the water. If despatching the fish do this quickly and humanely.
