In June the representatives of 27 countries arrived at Drymen to compete in the 2009 World Fly Fishing Championships and enjoyed a superb competition. The successful bid to host this event was presented to FIPS Mouche by Dr Neil McCarry at the 29 CIPS Congress in Prague 2007 and followed on from the very successful European Championships they held on Islay in 2003. No doubt the successful bid to host the 2009 World Championships benefited from the many reports that praised the hosting of the 2003 event. The Scottish team took the silver medal in 2003 and hopes were high that the team of David Chalmers, Calum Crosbie, Simon Cocker, Donald Forbes and James Litster assisted by Dick Logan (captain/reserve) and George Mackenzie (manager) would once again be there at the finish.
Fastnet were proud to be selected as the official landing net supplier for the championships. The Special Edition World Landing Net was designed specifically for the event taking into consideration the various locations they would compete from. One hundred and seventy five landing nets were manufactured and supplied to assist each competitor successfully land their catch.
A further 100 Special Edition WFFC Landing Nets have been manufactured this season and are now available online.
